Blurb:
Sanjeev Bansal's exquisite poems are epistles to the past, reflections upon the future and heartbreaking meditations upon the metaphysics of daily transcendence. One of the most subtly imaginative poets, Bansal bravely transcribes his love for the hilly terrains of Shimla into the charged intersections of love and rejection, nature and religion, loss and renewal. His poems are lucid snapshots developed in a subtle amalgam of memory and intuition. Lyrical and linguistically inventive and yet faithful to poesy of European gloom, Bansal investigates complex personal history, family and romantic love in carefully sculpted lines, thereby making his poetry an odyssey at once metaphorically and emphatically real.

Prologue:
For ‘Heaven Shimla’-
Morrow, at dusk, when the rays awake their embryo,
I’ll again set my sails. I know ye are waiting for me.
I’ll again move in thy breasts; I’ll again travel through
ye moss,
And when I arrive, I shall view ye blond waterfall,
The shrubs of green cedar, and echoes of rhythmic gale;
For ‘Divine Queen’-
My care and love flew like a pigeon,
Until rift pounced down like a bullet,
Immensity of time without ye is as cold as frosty winter.
As this sad poet saith:
“That’s not the end of all.
Ye’ll always be in my writing tales,
In my heart and in ye sepulcher.”

Book Review:
'An Ode to Shimla' -- This book, which is a collection of 54 beautiful poems left me spellbound. The description of nature will make you travel towards its bounties along with it while reading. I'm still not over reading the poems back and again. The depth, the thoughtfulness, the imagination and one's expression are beyond the reader's contemplation where you are given such an ecstatic treat of words. This book is a mesmerising web of emotions and fantasy that even if you tend to try your best to get over it, you will be pulled back. The way Poet Sanjeev Bansal has played with it is completely commendable, justifying its worth in Literary World. Being a poetry lover, I recommend all the readers to have this enthralling ride of poems. My rating for the poems is 4.5/5.

Favourite poem & lines:
Poem-12: Artist of my Dreamy Portrait
Writer, ye be uncertain, when ye imagine the
rare thoughts,
Of my treasured lady, as to how to begin the
starting verses;
Musician, ye hesitate, when ye hold the strings,
Of my admirable Mistress, as to how to end the
solo notes.

Book Cover is simply a portraiture of A Heaven on Earth -- Shimla, pacing up with the Book title. The blue sky, flowers, mountains and river perfectly fits describing the lovely poems in the book. I would like to Rate it 4/5.
I'm grateful to the Poet for providing me the opportunity to encounter such a beauty on Earth. Best Wishes.😊
